    DIY Deer Costume

Doe a deer, a female deer… I realize female deer do not have antlers and it’s highly unlikely that a male would have pink sparkly antlers with flowers. However, in my imagination, this is what I would look like if I were a deer. There are lots of deer and fawn makeup tutorials on-line, most of them are pretty similar. Some are very extravagant and require skills. Luckily, I found a few that I thought were do-able for someone like me with zero make-up skills. So with that, I decided to become a deer for a day. This look was inspired by a tutorial from Whippy Cake who I’ve been following for…

How to Throw a Great Dog Birthday Party with Items From the Dollar Tree

This year my son turned 12 and requested a dog themed birthday party…how fun is that! As usual everything seemed to come together for a fun party that was enjoyed by all our guests. One of the main ideas was to serve food in doggie bowls that actually looked like food a dog would eat. This created so many funny moments as the boys devoured their treats. Here is a “ruff” idea of what we served our guests when they arrived at the Dog Party: Dog Water Bowls (made with blue Jello) Dog Chow (recipe here) Mini Hot Dogs Dog Pound Lollipops (Oriental Trading Co) Puppy Chews (Pepperoni Sticks) Dog…

Afternoon Tea at The Georgian in Seattle

On our way to Canada, I arranged for my daughter and I to stop and share a special tea for two in honor of her 16th birthday. Our original plan was to take the ferry over to Victoria and have tea at the Empress Hotel, however due to the recent wildfires in British Columbia, we shortened our trip and the Victoria BC portion got cut. I quickly researched some other locations for us to celebrate and I just knew when I found the afternoon tea held at the Georgian, in the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, it was just what I had in mind for her first formal tea…and it was absolutely…

    Boho Chic Tea Party

Last weekend I helped put on a mother daughter tea for the National Charity League. How fun is that?! This yearly event gives members a chance to celebrate their year of volunteering in the community as well as honoring the outgoing senior girls. Once we decided on the Boho Chic decor theme I started working on the invitation. After several revisions, this the final design that was sent out. I just love the roses and the peachy colors that make it feel feminine and pretty and the dream catcher sets the tone for the Boho Chic theme. The inspirational motto was “Collect Moments Not Things.” This is the first year…

    Camping Birthday Party

Happy Campers As a mom it’s always so much fun to watch your kids’ interest evolve over the years. When planning their birthdays I pay attention to what they are currently obsessed with and then I run with it. This summer while we were out hiking on our National Parks vacation, my youngest mentioned to me that maybe he would like a National Parks themed birthday party. We brainstormed ideas for a while and had fun coming up with ways to incorporate our theme, but once we got back from our trip he decided maybe a camping theme would be better. I was pretty excited for his new suggestion because I think there are so many…
