Field and Vine’s Farm to Table Dinner at Blakeslee Vineyard Estate

Our first Pacific Northwest Farm to Table dinner was organized by Field and Vine Events and was held at Blakeslee Vineyard Estate in Sherwood Oregon. The 7-course French inspired meal meal was served family style and every bite was delicious. We enjoyed the wine selections at our Farm to Table dinner at Blakeslee Vineyard. The Rosé and Chardonnay were my personal favorites. What we Ate at the Farm to Table Dinner at Blakeslee Vineyard Our first course was Grilled Fig Bruschetta. This was such a great combination of flavors! The second course included a Baby Kale and Arugula Salad. Another winner. I really enjoyed the vinegrette. The Sautéed Shrimp for…

    Central Oregon Mural Trail

These beautiful postcard style murals included in the Central Oregon Mural Trail are a collaboration featuring two local Bend artists Katie Daisy and Karen Eland. You likely recognize Katie’s work from her line of greeting cards and illustrated books sold in stores all across the country. I’ve been a big fan of her work for a while now, so seeing her work up close at such a huge scale is pretty great! I love how each of the murals contains local birds, wildlife, plant life and the landscapes that are unique to the area. The hand lettering is very much in step with Katie Daisy’s familiar designs. If you are…

Visit Rollins College and See a Statue of Mister Rogers

Fred Rogers Rogers graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 1951 with a degree in Music Composition. Seventy years later, in 2021 a statue called “Beautiful Day for a Neighbor” was created to honor his legacy. The front of the statue shows him interacting with a group of children, using his iconic Daniel Tiger puppet. The back side of the…

How to Spend a Day in St Augustine

We spent the first full day of our Florida trip in St Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied city in the United States. Let me start off by saying that one day is not enough time to see all the great things this city has to offer. Here are some suggestions based on everything we did on our busy day in St Augustine. A little History Lesson I had always thought Jamestown (occupied by the early pilgrim settlers) was the first city. Although Jamestown is noted as the first English settlement, it wasn’t established until 1607. St. Augustine was founded by the Spaniards in 1565 after Spanish explorer Don Pedro Menendez…
