For years, we talked about replacing the gas stove with an insert and as it turns out…today is the day! While the wood stove is really cozy and puts out a respectable amount of heat, I really missed having a mantle to decorate and also just wanted to update the look a bit to blend in better with the style of our new kitchen…less rustic and more traditional. Dan found a fireplace insert that was offered in our trade network, so lucky us, no money out-of-pocket to purchase the equipment. This was a huge savings and allowed us to begin the project sooner than we planned.
Here is a progression that shows how it looked before, then with the old stove removed and last with the insert in position before we closed it up! What can I say? I thought the old stove cranked out the heat, but the new insert really warms you up quickly…almost too quickly! We had to turn down the heat on the insert after an incident involving liquid-lava-hot jeans that nearly burnt the skin off my legs! Ouch!!
