The McKenzie river is a 90-mile tributary of the Willamette River and runs through old growth forest, waterfalls, and brilliant blue pools of water. The McKenzie River Recreation Trail is a 24 mile trail used by hikers and mountain bikers that runs along the McKenzie River. One of the most popular section includes Koosah and Sahalie Falls. This trail offers two great waterfalls on one beautiful riverside trail. Another longer trail (9.5 miles) includes Koosah, Sahalie and Tamolich Falls. About the Trail

When you arrive, you might have better luck finding parking at the bigger, Koosah Falls lot. Parking passes are not required. For those who have mobility issues, Sahalie Falls observation deck is close to the parking lot and is wheelchair accessible. Stairs prevent wheel chairs from accessing the rest of the trail, however, the falls can be viewed from the parking area. You will find restrooms at Sahalie Falls.

This  loop trail through the forest, borders the beautiful McKenzie River. The Koosah and Sahalie falls hiking trail is a short, well-maintained path that is great for families.

Tips for photographing the McKenzie RiverBesides the two waterfalls, the McKenzie River is another great subject to photograph. Look for side trails that go towards the river. This spot features a stair step cascade and made for a unique place to capture the river flow. This shot was taken at 1.6 seconds at f11.
