Visit with Us at Magnolia Market + Garden: Day One at the Silos

Visit Magnolia Market

Five years ago, just after we had completed our big kitchen remodel, my sister-in-law Taly asked me if I ever watched the show Fixer Upper. We didn’t have HGTV, so I hadn’t even heard of Fixer Upper. Finally, months later while staying at a hotel, we turned to HGTV and met Chip and Joanna for the first time. We really liked the clean yet cozy decorating style, but what kept us coming back was the down-to-earth, family centered nature of Chip and Joanna and so we tuned in to their show every time we stayed over night in a hotel. Over the next few years, their show took off, the Silos were purchased, their books and magazines were published and Magnolia Market became a destination on my short list. Over the past 4-5 years, our recent travels have primarily been family road trips, but when the kiddos wanted to lay low at home for spring break this year, we took that as a (much more affordable) green light to make our first ever trip to Texas, just the two of us!

I have family in Texas and have always wanted to travel to see them, but it never seemed to work out until this year. Dan and I decided to make the most of our trip and concocted a 9 day Texas road trip to see as much of Texas as possible. You can read more about our Texas Sampler by following the links at the end of this post.

After arriving in Dallas and enjoying lunch with my aunt, we drove an hour and a half to Waco and made it there just an hour before closing time. This turned out to be perfect timing because by then the crowds were gone and it was just us and a handful of people lingering until closing. No stress, no crowds, no idea what to do with myself. I was just pinching myself at every turn as we walked around the property. I was actually quite thankful that there were so few people because the added commotion would have made it harder for me to take it all in. We admired all the new spring displays and then wandered outside to relax in the sun.

Here is a re-cap of our first day in Waco at the Magnolia Market Silos.

Magnolia Market Spring 2019The new Spring 2019 Displays are so perfect. If I’m being honest, I would tell you that I loved and swooned over the beautiful blush pink flower filled ‘instagram wall’ from last spring, but the meaning behind the quote on this season’s wall is powerful and beautiful in it’s own way and has me completely evaluating who exactly I was made to be. This is timely for me personally and speaks to where I am in this season of life. It falls right in line with the message of authenticity discussed in the spring issue of the Magnolia Journal and is a beautiful reflection on how sometimes we need to peel back the layers to reveal who we truly are at the core. The umbrellas—well, as a born and raised PNW Oregonian, they are like a little slice of home…except any native Oregonian would tell you, we don’t really bother with umbrellas at all! Never the less, they were a sweet way to welcome us in.

All the Pretty Things

As you would expect, every nook and cranny is tastefully staged and right in line with the cozy, timeless style we all adore. Also worth noting is the fun way the displays showcase these oversized bee hives as a thoughtful nod to the honey segments in the spring issue of Magnolia Journal.

I have been in love with these lanterns ever since I saw them at the 2016 Street of Dreams!Dishes from Magnolia Market at the SilosMagnolia MarketOur visit to Magnolia Market

A Little Something for the Mister

Clearly this long-awaited trip to the Silos was primarily for me. However, Dan will tell you that he really did enjoy seeing everything in person and also enjoyed seeing how much fun I was having. Awwwww…I love that about him! This section of the store was all about the guys. Lots of cool gear and manly do-dads mixed in with Chip’s book and other Magnolia branded merch.

Our Trip to Magnolia Market

Into the Garden

Garden inspiration was everywhere and I totally spaced out and forgot to really take it all in!Visit with us at Magnolia Market

I was on a postcard finding mission, so when I heard there were some located at Magnolia Seed + Supply I was so excited, I made a bee-line straight over there to find them. Unfortunately, I was so focused on deciding which postcards to get that I completely forgot to look around and enjoy the gardens. I also forgot to go back and pick out one of those cute seed packet inspired towels. Aren’t they adorable? I did manage to get my postcards after all and also a few packets of blue bonnet seeds which was meaningful to me because I was thrilled to finally see the famous Texas blue bonnets in person blooming along the highways!
