There’s Dessert, Then There’s the Chocolate Piñata from Uncle Julio’s.

Uncle Julios Chocolate Pinata

Most of the time when the waiter comes by at the end of the meal to ask if we want dessert, we decline. However, dessert was our main reason for dining at Uncle Julio’s. I started off with a Chicken Fajita Cobb Salad. The salad was large enough that I split it with Dan. This was pure strategy because I wanted to save room for dessert! Naturally the good vitamins and healthy fiber from the salad would cancel out any damage done from eating such a decadent treat. At least that’s what I kept telling myself.

As desserts go, this has got to be ranked at the top of my list for style alone. It’s not served on a fancy plate garnished with powdered sugar and chopped nuts like some predictable dessert you may have eaten before. No ma’am…this next level molded chocolate dessert is suspended above the table from a tray that is decorated with clouds of whipping cream, pots of chocolate fudge and drizzles of caramel and raspberry glaze —like a champ. But now comes the best part…it doubles as a piñata! You have to crack it open before you can eat it!

Unlike a traditional pinata, the candy is on the outside and the inside is filled with fruit and churros…oh my heavens, who is the genius who came up with this idea? Not only is it uniquely presented, but it’s interactive in a way that I’ve never experienced before. And let’s not forget that half of this dessert is made up of fruit.  It’s basically a fancy fruit salad. The berries are a low glycemic fruit, so you could look at this as a health food like I did or you can look at it as a ridiculously cool splurge. Both approaches would be accurate! #TreatYourself

Uncle Julios Chocolate Pinata

Strawberries | Pineapple | Blackberries | Churros

The enormous amount of sweetness that sat in front of us was definitely more suited for a larger group, but our party of three managed to put a respectable dent in the indulgent mountain of tastiness.

There are two options to chose from: The original chocolate piñata is what we ordered and runs about $25. Then there is the new chocolate lover’s piñata which also includes chocolate filled empanadas!!

If you live in or are planning a trip to Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin this would be a fantastic place for your next celebration. The original Uncle Julios location is just 10 minutes away from the Dallas Love Field Airport and was the perfect meeting spot for lunch with my Aunt. Click HERE to find the location nearest to you.

May all your desserts be this epic,
